About Jazz Fever
Jazz Fever is a Sydney band founded more than 20 years ago by saxophonist Scott Simpkins. Scott holds a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and also plays clarinet and flute. Over his career he has performed at the Sydney Opera House and major theatres around Australia, toured with James Morrison's Big Band, Moving Pictures and the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and played musicals including Jersey Boys and Guys and Dolls. The band is made up of full-time professional musicians who all hold tertiary qualifications in music performance. It is sized to the event, from an intimate cocktail party for 20 guests to a sit-down dinner for 500. The repertoire is wide: jazz, big band, Dixieland and trad jazz, bossa nova and Latin, soul and funk, Motown, R&B, disco, rock and roll, pop and Top 40, with an in-house arranger who can adapt songs on request. Clients can choose from the songlist, ask for particular songs, or let the band shape the night. Bookings include birthdays and anniversaries, company functions, weddings and engagements, residencies at hotels, restaurants and clubs, special occasions such as bar mitzvahs, outdoor festivals, school functions and formals, and Christmas and New Year's Eve parties.
