About Double Shot Music

Double Shot Music is a Sydney live music group built around male and female singers, which is what lets it move between Motown and soul, disco, easy listening, smooth jazz, rock anthems and current pop without the night turning into one long medley. The repertoire starts in the 50s, 60s and 70s and runs through to today, with arrangements that lean on harmonies and creative mashups rather than straight covers. The group has worked with more than 500 clients and placed in the top five in NSW at the ABIA Awards in both 2024 and 2025. The line-up is the part you choose. An acoustic duo or keys duo using live looping suits a ceremony or a canapes hour, a trio or quartet adds harmonies and a fuller sound, and the band scales to four, five, six or seven-plus pieces with guitar, bass, synth and saxophone behind the singers. There is also a DJ option and a DJ band, where a DJ set is layered with live saxophone, vocals, violin, percussion or guitar. String and instrumental groups are available where a venue restricts amplified sound. They bring their own PA, using QSC K12 speakers for most rooms and battery-powered Bose S1 Pro Plus speakers for ceremonies and sites with no power, and they deal with the AV team directly on larger productions. Song requests are welcome with at least four weeks notice so the music can be sourced and rehearsed. Bookings are being taken up to around eighteen months ahead. Travel covers Greater Sydney, with trips further out quoted with an added travel cost.

Double Shot Music quotes each event on the line-up you want, the date, how long you need them and the venue, so an acoustic duo for a ceremony and a seven-piece band for a reception are priced very differently. Locations outside Sydney carry an added travel cost, including accommodation where an overnight stay is required. Send them your date and venue for a quote.

Performance Details

You choose the line-up, and it can change through the day: an acoustic or keys duo for the ceremony and canapes, then a trio, quartet or full band of four to seven-plus pieces for the reception. Male and female singers front every format, with guitar, bass, synth and saxophone behind them, and strings or other instrumentalists can be added. A DJ set can be booked on its own or as a DJ band, with live saxophone, vocals, violin, percussion or guitar played over the top. The PA comes with them: QSC K12 speakers for most rooms and battery-powered Bose S1 Pro Plus speakers where there is no power, and they liaise with the AV team on larger productions. New song requests need about four weeks notice so the music can be obtained and rehearsed, and custom studio recordings can be made where a song needs to play without the band. Where a venue prohibits amplification, they recommend a string or instrumental group rather than an unamplified band.

Yes, with at least four weeks notice so they can obtain the music and rehearse it. They also offer custom studio recordings of a particular song, which you can play through a celebrant's speaker or use in a video montage.

How far ahead should we book?

They are taking bookings up to around eighteen months ahead, so a date well out is not a problem. Send the date and venue and they will confirm which line-ups are still free for it.

Do they travel outside Sydney?

Yes. They play across Greater Sydney and travel to the Blue Mountains, the Hunter Valley, Newcastle, Campbelltown and the Southern Highlands, and sometimes further. Anywhere beyond Sydney carries an added travel cost, including accommodation where an overnight stay is needed.
