About Blue Velvet Jazz
Blue Velvet Jazz is a Sydney jazz band run by singer Sarah Lorien and Michael Trifunovic, based on the Northern Beaches. The band plays cool jazz standards and easygoing bossa nova, the kind of music that fills a room with atmosphere while guests keep talking. Most of their bookings are private and corporate events, with the odd public gig at local venues such as a Brookvale brewery. The line-up is built around your event. A trio suits a cocktail hour or a smaller home party, while a quartet or five-piece gives a fuller sound for a wedding reception or a large function. Depending on the size you choose, the band draws on a vocalist plus guitar, keys, double bass and drums. Setlists come from a large repertoire and are chosen to fit the space, the guests and the feel you are after, from classic standards through to romantic bossa. Great Gatsby and 1920s-themed parties are a regular request, and the band has added a good number of songs from that era, with requests welcome.
