About The Wedding Cinematographer
The Wedding Cinematographer is a collective of trained wedding filmmakers with a head office on Tudor Street in Newcastle West. Head of cinematography Zac Heath arrived at weddings by way of surf and fashion shoots, so the films lean towards natural light, unscripted moments and a restrained edit, without corny soundtracks or heavy grading. Newcastle gives the team plenty to work with. Their journal singles out the city's coastline and working harbour as backdrops, with surfers on the late waves, pink evening skies and the sun dropping into Newcastle Harbour. On the day the crew moves quietly among your guests rather than staging scenes, and the drone goes up when the light is right. Three packages cover most weddings. Elopements and micro weddings start at $2,750 including GST, with a single cinematographer for 3 to 4 hours, a 2 to 3 minute edit, drone footage and a social clip. Essentials, the package couples choose most, runs from $4,400 and brings a pair of cinematographers for eight hours, with a longer 3 to 4 minute film. Everything, from $5,500, adds complete ceremony and speech edits and the full social package. You can add real Super 8 film, extra hours or standalone ceremony and speech edits. Every booking opens with a catch-up to plan the day, and the finished film arrives on a USB plus an online copy. The team films only, so for stills they point couples to photographers they trust, and they also travel to the Hunter Valley and further afield.
