About Mane Events
Mane Events is a DJ and MC business based at Redhead, on the Lake Macquarie coast just south of Newcastle. Owner Sean set it up in 2012 after years playing Newcastle clubs and venues, and he now works alongside Tom, who DJs and MCs, and DJ Matt. Together they have worked well over 1500 weddings, along with formals, birthdays, corporate nights and other private gigs around Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and beyond. Weddings make up most of the calendar, and a booking can run across the whole day. The DJ handles music before and during the ceremony and through the signing, keeps the cocktail hour ticking along, brings the couple in for the reception, sets up the speeches and then turns the room into a dance floor. Booked as MC as well, they also keep the formalities to time and introduce each part of the night. Couples send through songs they want played and songs to leave out, and the sets range from 1960s favourites to current hits, club tracks, lounge and hip hop. The lighting is club-style intelligent fixtures rather than basic chasers. More can be added before the quote goes out, including bigger sound, spotlights, lasers, mirror balls and bubble machines. There are also combined packages that bring in a saxophone player or a photo booth alongside the DJ. DJs turn up in black trousers and a buttoned shirt for weddings, or dressed to a theme if you ask. Quotes go out no more than 48 hours after you enquire, the date is locked in with a $200 deposit, and if the DJ can stay later on the night, extra time is $50 for each half hour.

Does Mane Events play Newcastle and Lake Macquarie weddings?
Yes. The team is based at Redhead and Newcastle is home turf: Sean started out playing the city's clubs and venues, and the DJs now play weddings and private events around Newcastle and the lake.
Can our DJ double as the MC?
Yes. Both Sean and Tom take bookings as DJ and MC, so one person can look after the music, the announcements and the timing of speeches, from the ceremony through to the final send-off.
Do they do formals and birthdays as well as weddings?
They do. The DJs have played school formals, birthdays, fashion parades and corporate events as well as weddings, and the music and lighting are matched to the crowd and the room.
How do we get a price?
Send your date, venue and hours and a quote comes back within 48 hours. A $200 deposit holds the date, and the balance can be paid by bank transfer or in cash on the day.
What happens if we want the music to keep going?
If the DJ is free to stay on, overtime is charged at $50 for every extra half hour, settled directly with the DJ before that extra time starts.
