About Silver Sun Sailing
Silver Sun Sailing is a small skippered charter business on Lake Macquarie, run by Skipper Scott, who learned to sail on the lake as a boy, together with Kim. Every trip is on Spellcaster III, a 40-foot French Beneteau yacht berthed at Belmont in the marina of the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club and fitted out for comfortable day sailing and overnight stays. The skipper picks the route on the day to suit the wind, working around the lake's bays and sand islands, and the boat motor-sails when conditions are light. Groups are kept to eight on the scenic sails, so guests can move around freely, sit up on the bow in the hammock or take a turn at the helm. The yacht has a galley with fridge, freezer and ice maker, plus heating and cooling below deck. The regular trips are a two-hour morning sail with light treats and a glass of something, and a two-hour sunset sail with canapes and drinks. For workplaces there is the Crew Challenge, a three-and-a-half-hour team session for four to ten people in which everyone takes a role sailing the yacht and the group reflects on how they worked together afterwards. The yacht also suits couples. Elopements, commitment ceremonies, proposals, engagements and wedding photos can be built into a private package, and the overnight option leaves a couple aboard at anchor with dinner prepared before the hosts head ashore. Small private charters for birthdays and friends' get-togethers are arranged on request, and longer skippered trips can be planned too.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can come sailing?
The morning and sunset sails take up to eight guests, which keeps the yacht comfortable to move around. The Crew Challenge team session takes between four and ten people.
Where do the sails leave from?
Spellcaster III is berthed at the Lake Macquarie Yacht Club marina in Belmont, and trips start and finish there. The skipper chooses the course around the lake on the day.
Do we need any sailing experience?
No. The skipper runs the yacht, and guests can simply relax or help with the sails if they want to. On the Crew Challenge everyone is given a role and shown what to do.
Is food and drink included?
Yes on the scheduled sails. The morning sail includes light treats and a drink, and the sunset sail includes canapes with champagne, beer or wine. Catering for ceremonies and private charters is agreed when you book.
Can we hold an elopement or engagement on the yacht?
Yes. The yacht can be booked for elopements, commitment ceremonies, proposals and engagements, or to bring a couple to a wedding at the yacht club. These are priced to suit each request.
