The Timber Yard is an event venue on Plummer Street in Port Melbourne, set in the sheds of a former timber and furniture works. It is hired on an exclusive basis for private celebrations, weddings and corporate events, and street parking for more than 200 cars sits on Plummer and Smith streets. The site is made up of several spaces that can be used together or in sections. The Warehouse is a high-ceilinged, climate-controlled shed with a permanent stage, audio, lighting and a big video screen, a 12-metre bar and automated blackout drapes; floor-to-ceiling curtains let it shrink from a full room for 1,500 standing to a half room for 300 to 600. The Yard is a turfed outdoor area with festoon lighting, umbrellas, heaters and a 10-metre bar, holding up to 900. The Wood Store is a long undercover structure for around 400 with its own sound system and microphones, and the Workshop is a smaller enclosed room for cocktail functions or breakouts. Two upstairs meeting rooms double as bridal suites or green rooms. Venue hire includes dining tables and chairs for up to 400, cocktail furniture, outdoor umbrellas and lighting, heating and cooling, security staff and a venue manager. Catering comes through the venue's catering partner, external caterers or food trucks, and the bar runs four-hour drinks packages, with spirits and cocktails available as add-ons. The venue is licensed until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
