About Sophia
Sophia occupies the upper floors of the Prahran Arcade at 282 Chapel Street in Prahran. The late 19th-century building was home and studio to the painter David Bromley for 13 years before it was restored as a private event venue. Inside are two rooms that can be hired on their own or together. The Ballroom has ornate chandeliers and a balcony looking down over Chapel Street, while the Gallery is a 60 metre room lit by 26 arched windows that open onto the arcade's decorative roof work. The Ballroom seats 100 or takes 180 standing. The Gallery seats 208 or holds 350 for a cocktail party, and booking the whole venue gives room for 250 at tables or 500 standing. The rooms suit long banquet tables, round tables, or lounge furniture for a cocktail event, and the white walls and timber floors take styling well. Weddings, milestone birthdays, fashion shows and formal dinners have all been held here. For corporate clients the venue handles networking evenings, product launches and formal dinners, with the space styled to suit each brief. What is the Gallery like?
It is a long room of about 60 metres with 26 arched windows along one side, looking up into the ornate structure above the arcade. It works for a long banquet or a large cocktail party.

Yes. The venue takes networking events, product launches and formal dinners, and the space can be styled to match the occasion.
Are prices published?
