About Matt Hrkac Photography
Matt Hrkac Photography is a small photo and video crew working out of Collingwood, led by photographer Matt Hrkac, who has spent more than ten years shooting fast-moving events. The team covers birthday parties, private functions, launches, conferences and corporate events, along with commercial shoots, headshots and production stills. The house style is candid and photojournalistic – the crew moves quietly through the room catching reactions, speeches and unscripted moments – with a more dramatic look when the setting suits it, and posed group shots whenever you want them. A few hours of coverage usually produces a few hundred frames. Near-identical shots are culled in editing, but there is no ceiling on the number of images you receive: you get everything worth keeping from the time they were there. Photos are lightly retouched and delivered in high resolution through online storage, usually within two to seven days. If you need images while the event is still running, rush delivery can be arranged for an extra fee. Video is handled by filmmaker Dia Taylor, using a two-camera set-up for more formal events, and drone footage can be added because the business holds CASA accreditation to fly commercially. Individuals booking for themselves pay the lower of the two rate tiers, and every team member carries $20 million in public liability insurance. Enquiries go through email or text, and in-person consultations at the Collingwood base can be arranged by appointment.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Matt Hrkac Photography charge for a party?
Individuals pay $350 plus GST for the first hour of photography and $175 plus GST for each hour after that. Photo and video together for individuals starts at $350 plus GST per hour, with a two-hour minimum for any videography.
How many photos will we receive?
There is no fixed limit. Near-duplicate frames are removed during editing, and you receive every remaining image taken while the team was at your event – usually a few hundred for an event of a couple of hours.
How quickly are the edited photos delivered?
Images get subtle touch-ups and are delivered in high resolution through an online storage link, normally within two to seven days. Rush delivery during the event itself is available for an additional fee.
What style of photography should we expect?
The approach is candid and documentary, catching natural moments as they happen, with a more dramatic treatment when the lighting and setting allow. Posed photos of groups, couples or the guest of honour are taken on request.
Do you need to pay a deposit?
A 50 per cent deposit is needed from first-time clients when the quote is over $1,500 or the booking runs longer than four hours. Interest-free payment plans can be arranged on the final invoice, depending on the amount owing.
