About Heartbreak Hotel
Heartbreak Hotel is a Northcote photo booth and DJ business that started out styling booths for weddings and now brings them to birthdays, corporate parties and Christmas functions too. Its booth is a slim white pillar with a touch-screen and built-in camera that prompts guests to pose – no curtained box – and it is set up against a backdrop with a table of props. The props are a big part of the look: vintage and eclectic pieces, wigs, hats and the trademark heart-shaped glasses at every booking. Backdrops include navy, peach, red, green, black and maroon velvets, champagne, pink, gold and unicorn sequins, a rose gold mermaid finish and a tropical print. You can supply your own 2m by 2m backdrop, or have a custom media wall made. Prints are 6x6 inches and designed by the in-house team to pick up your invitation, hashtag or logo. Guests print as often as they like, can email shots to their phones for social media, and an online gallery of every photo is uploaded about a week after the event. A polaroid guestbook in black cloth or crushed pink velvet can be added, along with a bubble machine. The booth needs a 2.5m by 2.5m space on level ground and one power point. An attendant arrives an hour before the booking starts to set up and stays throughout, and pack-down takes about half an hour. The same team can supply a vinyl DJ with a PA, so one booking can cover both.

Is there a travel charge?
Events within one hour of the Melbourne CBD carry no travel charge. Further afield, the team quotes travel separately.
Is set-up time included in the package hours?
No. The attendant sets up in the hour before the booked run time starts, and that hour is included in the package price.
Can the booth be set up well before guests use it?
Yes. It can be set up early so it looks good on display, with an idle fee of $60 per hour while it is waiting to be used.
Can we use our own backdrop?
Yes. A supplied backdrop should be 2m wide by 2m high and preferably non-reflective. A custom media wall can also be arranged.
