Escape Room Options Across Inner East

How Escape Rooms Actually Work

Three rooms with three very different moods make Rush Escape Game Hawthorn, at 606 Glenferrie Road, the inner east's escape room stop. It sits among the shops and eateries of the Glenferrie Road strip in Hawthorn, with a tram stop at the door and Glenferrie Station close by.

Each room takes two to six players and runs for 60 minutes, so up to 18 can play in one slot, and bigger parties can go in back-to-back waves.

The three games, side by side:

  • HackSaw: Saw-inspired trap horror for ages 16 and up, with tight spaces and puzzles of middling difficulty.
  • Strangest Thing: an 80s-style monster hunt, eerie rather than frightening, and the hardest puzzles in the building.
  • The Nine-Nine: a bright, comic detective heist with nothing scary in it – the pick for kids' birthdays from around seven.
  • Group size: two to six per room, up to 18 at once across all three.
  • Price: from $70 per person.

Allow around 90 minutes on site: arrival, a pre-game briefing and a debrief photo afterwards.

Splitting a mixed party

  • Strangest Thing suits puzzle-hungry players who want a challenge without a fright.
  • The Nine-Nine works for families and younger players, as well as adults who would rather laugh than scream.
  • Big groups beyond 18 can be scheduled in waves, one after another.

Comfort and access

  • Nobody is ever locked in, and no actors jump out.
  • Staff can raise the lights, lower the volume or brief players ahead on request.
  • Companion Card holders play free.
  • There is free street parking in the surrounding streets, as well as the tram at the door.
