About Centrestage Costumes
Centrestage Costumes is a family-run costume hire shop in Brunswick, in Melbourne's inner north. The business grew out of a singing telegram service, and dressing up has been the family trade ever since. A large share of the stock is made in-house, some of it on the same vintage Bernina sewing machine the founder's mother used. Hiring works by visiting the shop rather than choosing from a catalogue. The team talks through ideas with you, pulls options from the racks and helps put together the finishing pieces. If something doesn't sit right, they alter it on the spot at no extra charge. The range runs from Halloween horror and 70s glam to 80s party outfits, superheroes and villains, and paired looks for couples heading to the same event. Most costumes are hired for three days on a flat fee of $45 to $75, with a refundable bond held until return. A few premium hand-made pieces, such as the custom Roman gladiator or the astronaut suit, cost a little more. The shop also sells wigs, masks, hats, props and a wide range of theatrical and special effects makeup – stage blood, liquid latex, dermawax, pan sticks and full zombie kits – in store and online. Beyond parties, Centrestage has supplied stage shows, dance troupes, school plays and Mardi Gras floats. The shop opens Wednesday to Saturday, with Tuesday visits by appointment, so it suits anyone planning a themed birthday, a costume Christmas party or a dress-up hens or bucks night.

Would give 10 stars if possible. Was very welcomed as so on as I came in, and had all the attention to ensure I got what was required. Even though I left my decision to the last minute, I found an amazing outfit, and now…

Centrestage costumes carries a wide range of costumes. The service was patient and good advice was provided. I went to a 1940s mafia party and was best on ground. Thank you.
