About Avid Entertainment
Avid Entertainment is a DJ agency based in North Lambton, Newcastle, that has been running dance floors around Newcastle and the Hunter since 2010. Its DJs work open format, meaning they can move between genres to suit a mixed crowd: softer music over dinner, then anything from 70s grooves to chart hits once the dancing starts. Couples record their preferences, must-play songs and do-not-play list through an online planning system, and the agency matches them with a DJ whose taste fits. The Gold wedding package covers up to five hours of DJing with two 15-inch powered speakers, LED effects and wash lighting, a DJ booth in white or black and a wireless microphone for speeches. Platinum stretches to eight hours with ceremony audio and cocktail-hour music, and Diamond adds an LED dance floor, TV screens, extra lighting and a two-hour audiovisual show. Any DJ can also act as MC, running announcements, introducing the bridal party and speakers, and guiding guests through the cake cutting and first dance. Beyond weddings, Avid plays birthdays, engagement parties, corporate functions, hens nights, Christmas parties and school dances. For kids' discos the DJs carry clean versions and games such as freeze and limbo, and many can show a Working With Children Check. Effects like dry ice, cold sparks and uplighting can be added, and hybrid packages can bring in a live singer, drummer or sax player alongside the DJ.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a wedding DJ from Avid Entertainment?
The Gold package is $1,650 for up to five hours with sound, lighting and a speech microphone. Platinum, an eight-hour day with ceremony audio, is $2,250, and Diamond is $4,800.
Can the DJ also be our MC?
Yes. For $500 the DJ takes on MC duties, chatting with you beforehand, then making announcements, introducing the bridal party and speakers, and leading the formalities.
What happens if our DJ is sick on the day?
Avid works as a team of DJs, so a back-up DJ who has been briefed on your timeline, music choices and venue can step in.
What does the DJ need at the venue?
Allow about 2.5 x 2.5 metres for the set-up and access to a power point. Avid also asks that the DJ is given a meal during the event.
Does Avid play kids' parties and school discos?
Yes. DJs bring clean versions of popular songs and games such as freeze and limbo, and many are youth workers who can provide a Working With Children Check.
