About Our Italian Table

Our Italian Table is a small cooking school set in a Tuscan-style villa at Nicita Estate, a working vineyard on Mistletoe Lane in Pokolbin. Founder Jen Nicita has spent more than three decades in food and training, and she leads the classes with a team of teachers and assistants. Guests stand around a high bench in the kitchen and learn by doing, then carry what they have made out to a long table under the pergola, where the views stretch across the vines to the ranges. The class list runs from a two-hour masterclass on one dish (pasta, gnocchi or arancini), through the pasta class, where you hand roll dough, shape several pastas and make seasonal sauces, bread and biscotti, to a deluxe day that works through a seven-course Italian lunch. A regional class explores the recipes and stories of a single part of Italy. Every class finishes with the group eating together, rounded off with biscotti and an espresso. For hens weekends, birthdays, Christmas parties and team days, the school can be booked exclusively for up to 20 guests, with a minimum of 12 places, and your group picks the class style. Corporate groups can also pair cooking with other local experiences such as wine blending, olive oil tastings or yoga, arranged through partner businesses. The venue is BYO, has a mobility bathroom and car space, and asks everyone to wear closed shoes in the kitchen. Gluten-intolerant guests can be looked after with notice, though vegan and dairy-free diets can't be catered for.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Our Italian Table is BYO for every class, so bring wine or whatever else your group would like with lunch. Bottled water is provided, and responsible service of alcohol rules apply.

What dietary needs can be catered for?

With notice, gluten-intolerant guests can have gluten-free sauces and bread, but the pasta made in class contains gluten. Vegan and dairy-free diets can't be accommodated, and coeliacs affected by airborne flour are asked not to attend.
