Birthday Party Venues in Umina Beach

Choosing the Right Birthday Party Venue

West Street and The Esplanade are the two Umina Beach addresses to know for a birthday – a pub with three bookable spaces, and a surf club function room upstairs facing the bay.

Umina's birthday spaces at a glance:

Westview Room at Ocean Beach Hotel, 259 West Street: 40 seated or 50 standing under a fairy-light ceiling, air-conditioned, with its own bar and entrance.
Corner Lounge Bar at the OB: a vintage-styled spirits bar where West Street meets Trafalgar Avenue, for 20 seated or 30 standing.
Garden Bar at the OB: a covered outdoor terrace with its own bar and gas heaters, for 40 seated.
Ocean Beach Surf Life Saving Club, 176 The Esplanade: an upstairs auditorium with round tables for up to 130, opening onto a balcony.
Cost: bookings at the OB from Monday to Thursday start at a $500 minimum spend; surf club hire is quoted through the club office.

Choose the OB when the party wants a bartender, karaoke and a pizza oven close by. Choose the surf club when grandparents, cousins and old school friends all need a seat.

What comes with each space: four hours of hire, a dedicated bartender, a microphone, a Bluetooth speaker and free wifi.
Food: a platter menu of pub favourites, with wood-fired pizza, charcuterie and sliders among them.
Extras for the night: a DJ, a karaoke host, a mimosa bar or a candy cart.
Overnight: the hotel has 15 guest rooms upstairs, so the birthday crowd can sleep under the same roof.

Up at the surf club

The balcony: wide and undercover, looking out over Broken Bay to Lion Island.
Screens: two big plasma screens and a digital projector for a birthday photo slideshow.
Bar and kitchen: a licensed bar and a full catering kitchen, so food and drinks stay in-house.
On the night: neat dress, no pets other than assistance animals, and smoking only in the designated outdoor areas.
