About Circus Monoxide
Circus Monoxide began in 1996 as a touring circus company that lived and performed out of a hazard-striped bus. In 2012 it settled in Wollongong, and it now runs a training and performance hub in a warehouse at Fairy Meadow. It is a not-for-profit organisation, and alongside its classes it hires out performers for festivals, weddings, corporate functions, school events and private celebrations. The act list covers most of what people picture when they think of a circus. Aerialists work on silks, trapeze and lyra, and an aerial rig can be set up at the venue. On the ground there are acrobats, jugglers, hula hoop artists with LED hoops for night events, and stilt walkers in costume. Roving performers mingle with guests at the entrance or through a crowd, which suits a wedding reception or a street-style party as much as a fete. For groups who would rather join in than watch, the circus drop zone sets out plate spinning, juggling, stilts and hoops with trainers coaching guests through each one, and the company supplies all of the gear. There is also an aerial drop zone, kids shows that combine juggling, acrobatics and comedy, and circus workshops aimed at corporate team days. Larger bookings can be shaped into a custom package mixing any of these acts to fit the space and the budget. Enquiries go through the booking form on the company's website, and acts are quoted to suit each event.

Frequently asked questions
What kinds of circus acts can be booked?
Aerial acts on silks, trapeze or lyra, acrobatics, juggling, hula hoop routines and stilt walking, either as a show or as roving entertainment moving among the guests.
Can guests have a go at circus skills themselves?
Yes. The circus drop zone sets up juggling, plate spinning, stilts and hoops with trainers coaching guests, and the company brings every piece of equipment. An aerial drop zone can be added.
Do they perform at weddings and corporate events?
Yes. Roving performers can greet guests and work the room at a wedding reception, and corporate clients can book acts or a circus-based team-building workshop for their staff.
Is there a show for children?
The kids show is a stage set of juggling, acrobatics and comedy aimed at young audiences, suited to school events, community days and family celebrations.
How is a booking priced?
Performer hire is quoted per event, based on the acts, the number of performers and the time needed. Send the details through the booking form on the Circus Monoxide website for a quote.
