About Sydney Horse Riding
Sydney Horse Riding runs its rides and lessons on a 500-acre property at Denham Court, roughly 45 minutes from the CBD along the M5. The land is a mix of farm and bush, and the trails wind through it at an easy pace. Beginners aged 10 and over can join an hour-long trail ride kept strictly to a walk, while experienced riders can book a ride of an hour and a half with opportunities to trot and canter after a short riding assessment. Larger groups and private rides can be organised in advance. For children's birthdays, the pony parties run for about two and a half hours. Kids are fitted with helmets, then take turns on lead rides in a grass arena while staff help them on and off, before the celebration moves to a shaded picnic area or the indoor party house. The party house adds tables, tableware, tea and coffee for adults and juice for the children. Older kids aged 10 and up can have a trail ride party instead, and extras such as pony grooming and horseshoe painting can be added. Bookings are handled personally rather than online, because each rider is matched to a suitable horse based on height, weight and experience. Every rider completes a waiver, the maximum rider weight is 95 kilograms, and approved helmets are provided. Riders need long pants and enclosed shoes, and phones and cameras stay off the horse, though staff are happy to take photos. Group lessons, lead rides for young children and photo sessions with the horses round out the offering.
