Sydney Hills Horse Riding Centre is a family-run equestrian centre on Kenthurst Road in Dural, and its pony parties are built for children who love horses. The party runs for two hours and suits kids aged 3 to 16. For one of those hours, the centre's gentle school ponies join the group with two experienced handlers, and every child is shown how to groom and care for a pony before taking two rides, with the ponies rotated through the session so everyone gets a turn. The party area has seating for 10 children, and another table can be added for bigger groups. Packages are set by numbers: 10 children with two ponies, 15 children with three, or 20 children with four. Parents supply the party food and tablecloths, and are welcome to bring decorations and anything else that makes the day feel like a birthday. Children should come in long pants and enclosed shoes. A $150 deposit secures the date, with the balance paid on the day, and if management has to call off a party because of the weather, the deposit is refunded in full. Parties can be booked for Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday, and Sunday parties are available with a surcharge. For families who would rather start small, the centre also offers half-hour and one-hour pony rides for children aged 2 to 12, mixing riding time with grooming and feeding, and helmets are provided. Riders who catch the bug can move on to private lessons with qualified instructors or join a school holiday camp that combines riding, horse care and games.
