About Karmaela Art & Design
Karmaela Art & Design is the studio of Michelle (Mikki) Zhang, a Sydney designer and artist with a fashion and textiles degree from UTS and a background in illustration, murals and textile design. Alongside that design work she paints faces and draws live caricatures at events. Past bookings include Ferrari Passion Day, the 65 Roses walkathon for Cystic Fibrosis Australia and Blacktown Youth Week, as well as private parties and office Christmas functions. She takes bookings for kids parties and birthdays, Halloween gatherings, corporate functions, weddings, fundraisers and festivals. The face painting ranges from colourful children's designs and arm art to full costume looks such as lace masks, porcelain-doll faces and special-effects make-up for themed and Halloween nights. Live caricatures make a good icebreaker at corporate and social events because each guest leaves with a sketch, and both services can run at the same event when the timing allows. Face painting is priced from $110 an hour for one artist, with a minimum booking of three hours. Live caricatures start from $100 an hour on the same minimum, and costume make-up is from $110 an hour. Travel time and costs are added on top, and the rate can shift with the date, venue, guest count and any special requests. Send through the event details for a firm quote.
