About Gelato Shak
Gelato Shak is a small family business from the Wollondilly Shire that brings dessert to the party on wheels. Its signature ride is a 1975 Volkswagen Kombi painted mint green, backed up by purpose-built gelato carts, and a server scoops a chosen line-up of gelato and sorbet for guests in cups or waffle cones. Hosts pick their flavours from the range ahead of time, and vegan and dairy-free options are part of the list. Packages are set by headcount and how long the service runs. The smallest, Tiny Shak, covers up to 30 guests over half an hour with two flavours, while larger options add flavours, cones and time, up to a two-hour service for crowds of 300 or more. The same crew runs a mobile cannoli station, filling shells on the spot with two flavours and a choice of toppings, with packages from about 25 guests up to 230. A mini coffee van built into a Daihatsu Midget pours espresso drinks, teas and iced drinks with dairy and plant milks, and coffee can be combined with gelato in one booking. The team works across greater Sydney, from the south west and Macarthur through the inner west, eastern suburbs, north shore and northern beaches, and also travels to the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands and Wollongong. Travel costs are quoted separately from the package price. The cart or Kombi needs clear access and around half an hour either side of the service to set up and pack down, and it can run from batteries if no power is on hand. It takes bookings for weddings, private parties and work functions alike.
