About Karisma I

Karisma I was the first boat in the Karisma Cruises fleet. She was built in Thailand in 2011, planned as a private houseboat for the Hawkesbury, and moved into charter work on Sydney Harbour after her owners fielded a stream of requests from people who saw her on the water. The family business has since added two more vessels, but the original 57-foot catamaran is still the mid-sized option in the fleet. Guests spread across three entertaining areas with cover overhead: a 30-square-metre foredeck, a 20-square-metre aft deck and a 50-square-metre top deck with lounges for sunbaking. Inside, the main saloon is air conditioned, there are two bars, a dance floor with a set-up space for a DJ or musician, a 50-inch screen and a corded microphone. A heated six-person spa can be switched on by request, green LED lighting takes over at night, and hydraulic stairs lower into the water for a swim. Both bathrooms have a toilet and a hot shower. Karisma I takes up to 65 guests for cocktail, buffet or BBQ style events. BYO charters work for up to 50 people, with food and drinks loaded during 45 minutes of included pre-access at Pirrama Park; above 50 guests a food and beverage package is required. On BYO days, bring your own cups, plates and ice or pay a flat amenities fee for the crew to supply them. In-house DJs, water toys and styling can be added, and the Karisma team plans the event with you from the first enquiry to the day itself.

Pricing

Karisma Cruises lists Karisma I from $750 per hour. The final price depends on the date, the length of the cruise and whether you choose a BYO charter or a food and beverage package, and full rates and menus are sent on enquiry. A deposit secures the date, with a higher deposit for all-inclusive and December bookings, and the balance is due two weeks before the charter. Wharf travel fees apply to pick-ups outside the inner harbour.

Food

Karisma I can run fully catered, with menus cooked and served on board, or BYO. On a BYO charter bring pre-cooked, ready-to-serve food such as pizzas, platters, carved meats and salads; the crew can help reheat it, but outside caterers cannot cook in the galley. Plates and cutlery come with the amenities fee, and groups over 50 must choose a food package.

Beverages

Two bars serve the drinks packages on catered charters. For BYO, bring your drinks and ice and load them during pre-access at Pirrama Park, with an esky on board for spare ice. Leftover BYO alcohol can't be carried off at a public wharf, but up to five guests can ride back to the loading point to collect it. Shots are not allowed.

Wharfs & Availability

Day charters run between 11am and 5pm and evening charters between 5.30pm and 11.30pm. Guests board at the wharf of your choice, most often King Street Wharf or Casino Wharf, while BYO loading happens at Pirrama Park with 45 minutes of loading time included. Manly, Rose Bay, Double Bay, Middle Harbour and other outer wharves incur a travel fee each way.

How many guests can Karisma I take?

Up to 65 for cocktail, buffet or BBQ events, or 48 if the spa is in use. BYO charters are limited to 50 guests; bigger groups need one of the food and beverage packages.

What does a BYO charter include?

The boat, crew and 45 minutes of loading time at Pirrama Park to load food, drinks and decorations. Cups, plates, cutlery and ice are not included unless you pay the amenities fee, and each guest needs a minimum amount of pre-prepared food to meet liquor licence rules.

Where does Karisma I pick up?

You choose the wharf. King Street Wharf and Casino Wharf are popular, and wharves further out, such as Manly, Rose Bay, Double Bay or Middle Harbour, carry a travel fee each way.

Can we swim?

Yes. The captain finds a suitable spot and the hydraulic stairs lower into the water. An inflatable raft and a floating dock can be hired, and the heated spa can be switched on by request.

Can we bring a DJ or play our own music?

Connect a phone to the Bluetooth sound system, hire the in-house DJ, or bring your own DJ for a small fee. There is a dedicated DJ and musician area beside the dance floor.
