About Galaxy I
Galaxy I is a 26-metre motor yacht built by Precision Marine in Western Australia, launched in the late 1990s and refitted several times since. She is berthed permanently on Sydney Harbour, run by Galaxy Charters out of Pyrmont and skippered by her captain, Tony Asplet. The company pitches her at the luxury end of the market, with an onboard chef and waiting staff looking after each group. For events she takes up to 47 guests standing, 20 for a casual buffet or 10 at the formal dining table. The main saloon is open and lined with comfortable lounges and polished bird's-eye maple, the forward deck is set up for sunset drinks, and the flybridge on the upper deck is the spot to relax in the sun. She is fully air conditioned, has surround sound, satellite TV and wi-fi, and hydraulic stabilisers keep her steady. A swim platform with outdoor showers, glass-bottom sea kayaks, a jet ski and a rigid inflatable tender are on board for swim stops. Three guest cabins with ensuites mean Galaxy I also runs overnight stays and multi-day cruises for up to six, from whale watching off the coast to trips north to see Aboriginal rock engravings. Day charters depart from Towns Place Wharf in Walsh Bay, and she can collect from other wharves on request. Catering packages, a liquor licence and BYO options, with fees, cover food and drink, and one waiter is needed for every ten guests. Shoes come off at the gangway.

What is the minimum charter?
Galaxy Charters publishes a four-hour minimum for private charters, with the hourly rate covering the captain and deckhand. Full-day, overnight and weekly charters are priced separately.
Where does Galaxy I depart from?
Towns Place Wharf in Walsh Bay. King Street Wharf, the casino wharf, Gladesville and Rose Bay can be used for $50 per visit.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, BYO is possible with fees, or choose from the catering and beverage packages served under the yacht's liquor licence. Wait staff are charged per charter, one for every ten guests.
Are there extra charges on public holidays?
Yes. Public holidays and special days attract a 20 per cent surcharge, and Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Australia Day have their own higher hourly rate.
