About Quayside Charters
Quayside Charters, trading from Phoebe Street in Balmain, is a harbour charter agency that says it has been arranging private cruises for more than 25 years. Rather than owning a fleet, it books from over 50 vessels run by other operators, sorted into budget boats, catamarans, power cats, cruisers, luxury charters and large function boats. Its boat pages each carry a rate card, inclusions and a catering menu, so it is easy to compare options before enquiring. Prices start low. MV Cutting Loose takes up to seven guests for $250 an hour Sunday to Friday with a four-hour minimum, and allows BYO food and alcohol with a barbecue on board. Woorabinda, which takes up to 20, is $350 an hour on weekdays and Sundays with a three-hour minimum. Moving up, the motor yacht Salt holds 49 from $1,300 an hour, Aussie Magic fits 150 for parties from $950, and the superyacht Masteka 2 carries 80 from $1,950. Themed options include hens and bucks cruises, birthday and wedding charters, Christmas and New Year's Eve parties, Vivid and Australia Day cruises and school formal trips. Boats can collect guests from around 20 wharves, including Balmain, Birkenhead Point, King Street, Campbells Cove, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Mosman Bay and the Opera House steps, while Cabarita, Chowder Bay, Homebush Bay and Manly cost extra. Wharf fees and extras such as catering or barbecue use vary by boat and are shown on each rate card. The balance is due ten working days before the event, and special-date cruises such as New Year's Eve must be paid in full and are non-refundable. It suits groups who want a wide choice, including cheaper BYO boats.

What is the cheapest boat Quayside Charters books?
MV Cutting Loose, which takes up to seven guests for $250 an hour from Sunday to Friday and $275 on Saturdays and in December, with a four-hour minimum. For a bigger group, Woorabinda takes up to 20 guests for $350 an hour from Sunday to Friday.
Can we bring our own food and alcohol?
On many budget boats, yes. MV Cutting Loose, for example, allows BYO food and alcohol, supplies cups for BYO drinks, charges $30 for barbecue use and sells bags of ice for $5. Each boat page lists its own catering options and extra charges, and some offer set menus instead.
Which wharves can we board from?
Pick-ups are available from about 20 wharves around the harbour, including Balmain, Birkenhead Point, King Street, Campbells Cove, Double Bay, Rose Bay, Mosman Bay, Taronga Zoo and Man O War Steps. Cabarita, Chowder Bay, Homebush Bay and Manly are available at an additional cost.
When do we need to pay the balance?
A deposit shown on the charter invoice secures the booking, and the remaining balance is due ten working days before the event. Bookings made inside that window are payable in full, and New Year's Eve and other special-date cruises must be paid upfront and are non-refundable.
Can we add more guests after booking?
You can ask for extra passengers up to ten days before the event. If the boat has room, Quayside Charters quotes the additional cost, which must then be paid within 24 hours of being notified.
