About UnrealVR Charlestown
UnrealVR is a virtual reality studio at 181 Pacific Highway in Charlestown, a short walk up the road from Charlestown Square, with the nearest bus stop at Charlestown Library on Ridley Street. It uses room-scale VR, which tracks your movements in real time so you can walk, duck and reach inside the game rather than sit still. Each station has bench seating and an overhead screen showing what the player sees, so friends waiting their turn can follow along. The library covers around 60 games and experiences, from gentle art and exploration titles to action and racing, and staff help pick experiences to suit each guest. Multiplayer games let several people play together in the same world, and two stations can run as racing simulators. The Classic Party Package gives the group exclusive use of seven headsets for an hour at a flat fee, with a suggested limit of about 14 guests so everyone gets a fair go. A party room can be added for 40 minutes afterwards for food and cake, and larger groups can reserve the whole 15-headset studio for themselves. Regular bookings are priced per headset by time, and two or more people can share one headset and take turns. VR suits most people from about six years old, and the studio is wheelchair accessible. People with a history of photosensitive seizures, anxiety disorders or heart conditions should check with a doctor first. Weekend hours are 10am to 3.30pm, the studio opens daily in school holidays, and other times can be arranged by appointment.

How much does a VR booking cost?
Bookings are priced per headset: $25 for 30 minutes, $35 for 45 minutes, $45 for an hour and $65 for 90 minutes. Party packages are a flat fee, so call the studio for a quote.
What is included in the party package?
The Classic Party Package gives your group exclusive use of seven headsets for an hour, two of which can be racing simulators. About 14 guests is the recommended maximum, and a party room can be added for 40 minutes afterwards.
What age is VR suitable for?
The headsets and controllers fit most people over about six years old, and players should be able to read and use simple on-screen menus. Adults are welcome to join in at kids' parties.
Can people watch without playing?
Yes. Each station has an overhead screen showing what the player sees. For regular bookings, keep the total of players and spectators to about four per booking.
When is the studio open?
Regular hours are Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3.30pm, with daily opening in school holidays. Other days and times are available by appointment, so check the booking system or call.
