Choosing a Tasting Experience

Wine is made right in the city at Inner City Winemakers, a working winery and cellar door on Church Street in Wickham, within walking distance of the city centre and the harbour. Grapes are trucked in from New South Wales growing regions, then crushed, fermented, blended and bottled on site under head winemaker Rob Wilce, who has more than 30 years in the industry.

What a tasting involves:

  • A seated, hosted tasting poured by the winemaking team
  • The whole range in order – traditionally fermented sparkling, whites, reds and aged fortifieds
  • A cheese platter to share, if you mention it in the booking notes
  • Bookings capped at eight people
  • From $15 per person, Thursday to Saturday 10am to 4pm, with Sunday tastings by arrangement

With plenty of time for questions about how each wine is made, it's a relaxed, small-group alternative to a big night out in town.
