About Billy Goat Catering
Billy Goat Catering is Scott Marshall's off-site catering business, run from a kitchen in Charlestown. Scott worked in restaurant kitchens in Australia and in London before starting the business, and his team cooks from scratch with quality produce and flavours from around the world. Events across Newcastle and Lake Macquarie are the core of the work, and a travel fee applies only outside the Newcastle metro area. The team specialises in setting up wherever the party is, so a backyard in Merewether, a park by the lake or a hall with a basic kitchen is no obstacle; equipment can be brought in or arranged. For weddings, the style leans casual and generous. Couples can combine canapés and heartier substantial canapés with banquet plates brought to the tables, add RSA-trained bar staff, and book planning and on-the-day coordination to keep suppliers and timings on track. The Charcoal BBQ package opens with three canapés each or a grazing table, then two meats from a custom-built charcoal BBQ with three salads. It costs $60 per person with 40 to 80 guests, or $56 once you reach 80. The cocktail package is $65 or $58, and the banquet of shared plates (two mains, two sides, one salad) is $76 or $71. Chefs, waitstaff and GST are included. Menus also stretch to food stations, styled buffets, alternate drop and plated dinners, and the dishes range from Korean fried chicken and Nashville-style pulled pork to Texan brisket and salmon glazed with miso. Dietary needs are catered for, and a monthly tasting is held at the Charlestown kitchen.

Is there a travel fee for Newcastle or Lake Macquarie events?
Billy Goat cooks from Charlestown, and a travel fee may apply only for events outside the Newcastle metro area. Mention your venue when you enquire and it will be included in the quote.
Can we try the food before booking?
Yes. A tasting is held each month at the Charlestown kitchen, where you can sample a chef's selection and talk through your plans with the team.
What are the per person prices?
For 40 to 80 guests the Charcoal BBQ is $60 per person, dropping to $56 for 80 or more. Cocktail packages are $65 or $58 and banquet shared plates $76 or $71, depending on numbers. GST is included.
Do they cater smaller parties?
Yes. On request, the banquet can be served to groups of 15 to 40, and the cocktail package to groups of 25 to 50.
Can they cater somewhere without a kitchen?
Yes. Off-site events with limited facilities are a specialty, and the team supplies or organises the cooking equipment, service ware and staff needed to run the meal.
