The Red Hill & Western Port region stretches from the Red Hill and Main Ridge hinterland to the Western Port shore at Hastings, Tyabb and Somers. For a group tasting with a difference, Chief's Son Distillery in Somerville is a family-run single malt whisky maker.

It's a learn-as-you-go outing for adults, sized for small birthday groups and work teams.

What sets the visit apart:

Whisky only – 100% Australian single malt, made from malted barley in small batches.
Hands on the process – a fully manual system, seen up close on a walk through the still house.
Barrels to wander among – the warehouse holds casks that once carried tawny, Apera, red wine or bourbon.
A guide who reads the room – the head distiller adjusts each tasting for beginners or whisky regulars.
A cask-drawn keepsake – each guest fills a 100ml bottle straight from a barrel.
