About Big Flavours
Big Flavours is a chef-led catering company working out of its own kitchen in Oakleigh. The head chef trained in fine-dining restaurant kitchens, and the team makes every item from scratch rather than reheating bought-in food, so menus can be shaped around the guest list instead of the other way round. The menus cover hand-crafted canapés for standing cocktail parties, generous hot buffets, barbecue spreads and structured two- or three-course plated meals. Substantial canapés are on offer for longer cocktail-style nights where guests need a proper meal. Every menu can be adjusted for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and Halal guests, with those dishes prepared separately and labelled on the tray. Bookings start at 20 guests and scale to large functions of 300 and more. The team works in places without a commercial kitchen – private homes, garden settings and offices – by bringing its own equipment and plating on the spot. Full-service bookings include set-up, service and a thorough clean-up of the kitchen and prep areas before the crew leaves, and uniformed waitstaff and bar service can be added. Tableware, glassware, barbecues, patio heaters and chafing dishes can also be hired through them. Typical bookings include milestone birthdays at home, engagement drinks, wedding receptions and after-parties, anniversary dinners, corporate events and end-of-year Christmas functions. Tastings can be arranged for events of more than 50 guests, and around 72 hours' notice is suggested for standard orders, with more for larger events.

What is the minimum number of guests Big Flavours will cater for?
Most event menus need at least 20 guests; only orders from the separate corporate menu fall outside that minimum. At the other end, the team handles functions of 300 guests and more.
Can Big Flavours cater a party at home without a commercial kitchen?
Yes. The team brings its own equipment, cooks and plates on site, serves your guests and leaves the home kitchen clean, with bins emptied, before it heads off.
Which dietary needs can the menu cover?
Menus can be adapted for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free and Halal guests. Because many products pass through the kitchen, they cannot promise a completely allergen-free dish, so raise severe allergies early.
How much are the barbecue packages?
Three barbecue packages are published: $24.99, $35.50 and $54.99 plus GST per person, for a minimum of 20 people. Prices cover food only; staff and equipment are quoted on top, and delivery is available for the first two for a fee.
Can we taste the food before booking?
Tasting sessions are offered for events with more than 50 guests. For smaller parties the chefs will recommend a menu based on your event type, theme and dietary list.
