About MANIAX Melbourne CBD

MANIAX Melbourne CBD sits in a basement at 121 Elizabeth St, between Collins and Little Collins streets, beside the Elizabeth St tram stop. It is fitted out with 5 group lanes and 12 single lanes, enough to run groups of up to 300 throwers, and the whole venue is wheelchair accessible. Every session opens with a safety briefing and hands-on coaching, then the coach runs games and competitions using three styles of axe. Technique counts for more than muscle, so most people are sticking the target within a few throws. The standard session is an hour on a lane, and group packages stretch to two hours with a dedicated host. There is a version pitched at hens and bucks parties, a weekday team building format, and larger packages that add pizza, a food spread or a drinks package, up to Viking feast platters for groups of 20 or more. Groups under seven can still book a group package by paying for seven. Full venue hire is available for big company events. The kitchen serves pizzas, giant beef ribs and fried chicken, and the bar pours craft beer, cocktails and the house MANIAX mead. In Melbourne, alcohol is served only after you finish throwing, and you should not arrive having been drinking. Throwers must be 11 or older, with an adult present for anyone aged 11 to 17. Closed-toe shoes are required. No BYO food or drink is allowed, apart from a water bottle or a birthday cake.

How much does axe throwing cost at MANIAX Melbourne CBD?

The signature one-hour session is $58 a person. The hens and bucks version is $62 a person, the two-hour hosted group experience is $68 a person with a minimum of seven, and packages with pizza, food or drinks run higher.

Is there a minimum age to throw?

Throwers must be at least 11. Anyone aged 11 to 17 needs a responsible adult on site for the whole visit and a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. Younger children can come along to watch.

What should we wear?

Closed-toe shoes are compulsory for everyone throwing. Light, loose clothes are a good idea in summer. Axes are supplied, so there is nothing to bring apart from your booking.
