About East Maitland Bowling Club

East Maitland Bowling Club, part of the Easts group, has hosted bowls on its Banks Street site since 1913. The club keeps two couch grass greens and a covered synthetic green, and it caters for everyone from pennant players with the East Maitland Griffins to people picking up a bowl for the first time. Coaching for individuals or small groups can be booked by appointment, and the greens open from 10am six days a week, closing on Mondays for maintenance. For a casual group, barefoot bowls on the social green costs nothing: ask at the main bar or the cashier desk whether a rink is free when you arrive, as casual play can't be booked ahead. The green sits within The Social, an outdoor area serving drinks and meals, with a kids zone of interactive screens close by. Larger groups who want bowls as part of a function can contact the events team; a playing fee applies to event bookings, and catering can be arranged. Upstairs, the Scarborough Function Centre suits birthdays, engagement parties, weddings and conferences, seating up to 160 for a meal or 180 theatre style. It has a pre-function lounge, a balcony looking over Les Darcy Park, a portable dance floor, audio-visual gear and its own bar, and menus can be tailored to the group. Downstairs, the club runs three eateries, Griffins Cafe, Wildflame BBQ and the Bunga Raya Asian restaurant, along with free live music on Friday and Saturday nights and a courtesy bus for trips within 5 kilometres.
