About Umbrella Events & Tours
Umbrella Events & Tours is a small Maitland business run by Lisa Fraser, who set it up in 2014 after friends kept asking her to organise their celebrations. Before that she spent a long stretch in Hunter wine tourism, coordinating conferences, weddings, VIP tastings and open-air concerts for crowds of up to 5,000, so she brings both a wide contact book and a fondness for a well-built spreadsheet. The event management side covers weddings, milestone birthdays, private parties, corporate functions and community events. Lisa works with clients from the first idea through design and delivery: she recommends and books suppliers, coordinates caterers, performers and contractors, helps with setup, acts as the go-to person on the day and looks after the pack-down. Corporate clients get the same approach applied to logistics, vendors and scheduling, and she has helped stage outdoor concerts in the vineyards. Alongside events, Umbrella runs its own experiences. A Moving Feast is a hosted progressive dinner across three Maitland venues with a course and a local drink at each, A Taste of Maitland is a guided walk through the city's history and street art, and Sip and Savour is a private half or full-day winery tour with transfers from Morpeth, Maitland or Pokolbin. These can be booked privately for a birthday, a girls' night or a team outing. Umbrella services the Hunter Valley, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Port Stephens, and is open to helping further afield.

What kinds of events does Umbrella plan?
Weddings, milestone birthdays, private parties, corporate functions, community events and outdoor concerts. Lisa can handle the whole plan or simply be the person running things on the day.
How much does event management cost?
Event management is quoted per event, as no fixed packages are published. The priced experiences are the tours: A Taste of Maitland at $65 per adult, A Moving Feast at $125 per person and Sip and Savour from $185 per person.
Which areas does Umbrella cover?
The Hunter Valley, Newcastle, the Central Coast and Port Stephens. The business is based near Maitland, and events outside those areas may still be possible, so it is worth asking.
Can A Moving Feast be booked for a private group?
Yes. It runs as a public tour but can also be booked privately for a birthday or catch-up, for 4 to 12 guests, with three courses and a local wine or beer at each of the three venues.
Does Lisa handle setup and pack-down?
Yes. Support with setup on the day and managing the pack-down afterwards are part of the event management service, along with coordinating the suppliers in between.
