About The Outlook Riding Academy
The Outlook Riding Academy is a riding school on the Scenic Highway in Terrigal, halfway between Terrigal and Avoca Beach, on a property that borders a national park and Avoca Lake. Alongside its horses and ponies, the property is home to ducks, guinea fowl and visiting wallabies. The team teaches riders of every age and level, from complete beginners to experienced riders, and provides the horses and helmets. The core experience is a one-hour lesson at $110 a person that covers grooming, tacking up and riding time, with lessons through the paddocks and rainforest as well as in the arena. Each rider has their own horse and instructor, so a group of friends or a family can ride at the same time by booking a lesson for each person. For celebrations, the academy tailors packages to the group: kids' birthdays and pony parties with paddock trail rides, arena games, treasure hunts and pony decorating, and corporate team-builders and community events for adults. There is also a picnic experience that pairs a ride with a picnic box overlooking the horses and paddocks, suited to a proposal or an anniversary. Lessons start on the hour, Monday to Friday from 8am and Saturday mornings. Bookings are made online, and changes need at least 24 hours' notice to be credited. Wet weather doesn't stop play, with lessons moving into the stable or shed to cover horsemanship and theory. To find the property, enter through Gate 2, look for the white horse sign, and park opposite the long shed.
