About Q Strings
Q Strings is a string ensemble based in Wollongong whose players have been performing together for more than fifteen years. Weddings are the centre of its work, with the group playing guests in, accompanying the walk down the aisle and the signing, and staying on through drinks and canapes, but it also plays engagement parties, proposals, milestone birthdays, private dinners and corporate functions. There are three line-ups to choose from. The trio pairs two violins with a cello for a full, warm sound that carries in a larger ceremony space. The duet, a single violin with cello, is gentler and suits a smaller wedding or a relaxed dinner. A solo violinist is the simplest option for an intimate moment such as a proposal. The larger line-ups have access to the ensemble's complete catalogue, while the smaller one draws from part of it. The repertoire mixes classical staples, including Bach, Pachelbel, Handel, Mozart and Debussy, with arrangements of pop songs from the Beatles and Elvis through to Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran, plus themes from films and musicals. Couples can browse the list and pick pieces for each part of the day, and the group can arrange a song that is not on the list if you ask. Bookings are made through an enquiry form on the website giving the date, start time, the number of hours needed and the line-up, and the ensemble keeps in touch with you as the music plan is finalised.
