School Formal Venues in Macarthur

Choosing the Right School Formal Venue

For a Year 12 formal in the south-west, Nova on the Grange in Kearns is a purpose-built function venue that lists school formals among its regular events. The Raby Road building is surrounded by gardens and borders The Macarthur Grange Golf Course.

Unlike a pub function room, it is built around private rooms that open into one another, so a formal committee can size the space to the year group rather than squeezing into a single hall.

Formal-night options in Kearns:

A whole cohort: the venue seats 300, and opening all five rooms stretches it to 450.
A smaller year group: the Ravenna Room fits up to 130 with a dance floor, bar access, a fireplace and AV.
Mid-sized: the Amalfi and Roma rooms join to take 140.
Arrival photos: wraparound verandahs, gardens, chandeliers and an outdoor gazebo.
Dinner: shared Italian platters and alternate-drop mains, with packages from $48 per person.

There's no room hire fee, so the menu drives most of the cost; exclusive use of a room does carry a minimum spend, which is worth checking against the ticket price.

The Milano Room, for up to 30 with golf course views, suits a small school or a committee dinner.
The Sienna Room takes 70 to 80 with a 180-degree outlook.
The Roma Room holds 80 and has balcony access and AV for a slideshow of the graduating class.
The Ravenna Room, for 130, is where the dancing happens.

Running the formal night

Presentations: the Roma and Ravenna rooms both have AV for awards or a year-in-review video.
Non-alcoholic drinks: a soft drink package is offered to groups of ten or more; otherwise drinks are charged as consumed.
Menu steps: three set menus and a tapas menu sit above the pizza and pasta option, with add-on platters.
Operator: Nova is run by Terranova Venues, whose Italian kitchen cooks for every event on site.
