About Equip Multimedia
Equip Multimedia is an event production company in Cardiff, on the Lake Macquarie side of Newcastle. Managing director Dr Trevor Mallard started it in 1985 so that schools, churches and small organisations could get professional sound and lighting. Its Newcastle credits include a Façon fashion runway held at the Newcastle Museum, the Hunter Rescue Ball and community carols, and it has also produced Groovin the Moo at Maitland. Jobs range from a boardroom seminar to an entertainment centre function or a charity gala ball. On the audio side, the crew uses d&b line array speakers with Midas and Allen & Heath consoles, and draws up CAD plans and array calculations for larger shows. For vision, Blackmagic cameras can feed the stage live to screen, on up to 12 metres of LED wall or on 65-inch Sony televisions. Moving-head profiles, washes, beams, fog and haze cover the lighting. Stages are built from MegaDeck and Global Truss, dressed with Velveteen drapes in a choice of colours, and an Electro Kabuki drop can release a curtain weighing up to 50 kilograms for a reveal. Crews keep in touch on Riedel Bolero wireless headsets. Justin Mason, the event and operations manager, guides each client from the first idea to show night. Technicians handle delivery, installation, programming and operation, then the pack-down, and everything carries a current test and tag to Australian standards.
