Wetlands Adventure Minigolf on Wellington Road has two separate 18-hole courses, so a group can pick its setting or play both. The garden course winds through native plants, around a lagoon and over bridges and through gazebos, while the undercover course sits among tree ferns and climbs over two levels, which keeps play going when the weather turns. Watch for the water on both, and sink the 18th to be in with a chance of a free game. Every round includes entry to the maze, where friends can track your progress from a viewing platform. Beyond the courses there is a games room with air hockey and golf ball chairs for photos, plus giant jenga and noughts and crosses outdoors. The on-site café serves food and coffee through the middle of the day, and only café food may be eaten on site. The venue is alcohol-free and smoke-free, and children under 12 need an adult with them. Groups of 15 or more should book; smaller parties just turn up. Children's parties are a big part of what Wetlands does. A package gives 45 minutes in a serviced party room that seats up to 25 children – hot food first, then cake – followed by 18 holes, usually on the undercover course. There are four menus, with options for vegetarian, wheat-free and dairy-free guests, and food for the adults can be added. Parties need at least 10 children and do not include a party host. For bigger events such as team building or social functions, the whole complex can be hired exclusively outside trading hours, with catering from the kitchen or self-catering for a set fee.
