About Hollybrook Hunter Valley
Hollybrook Hunter Valley is a former dairy farm in its own small valley at Sweetmans Creek, five kilometres from the village of Wollombi, where host Heather McMullen runs Art N Sip painting classes for adults. Nobody needs to have painted before. The host walks the group through the artwork one step at a time, starting with an overview while canvases are prepared, and the session moves along with music and short breaks so the paint can dry and people can chat and top up their glasses. Designs on offer include a Picasso-style portrait of your painting partner, a cactus study that plays with blending, and a baby llama, each with room to add your own touches. Everyone leaves with their finished canvas. The standard class runs from 10am to 12:30pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and private sessions can be requested by email. Brushes, canvases, acrylic paints and aprons are supplied, and guests bring their own wine, beer or cider, with spirits not allowed. For a celebration, the Art N Sip High Tea is a private group booking of about two and a half hours for at least eight people: bubbles on arrival and through the class, then tiered sweet and savoury treats served on classic china with teas and coffee. There is also Art N Sip in the Vines, a private four-hour Friday session at Greenway Wines in Broke that adds a vineyard tour, a tasting and a charcuterie platter to a two-hour painting class. Hollybrook is set up for adults only, and its farmhouse, cottage and bush cabins can sleep a group of up to 14 for those who want to stay.

Frequently asked questions
Do we need any painting experience?
No. The host guides the group through every step of the artwork, and the designs are chosen so beginners can finish a canvas they're happy to take home.
How much is an Art N Sip class?
The standard class is from $88 per person including GST ($80 plus GST). The private High Tea package is $110 per person for at least eight people, and the vineyard session at Greenway Wines is $130 per person.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. Classes are BYO for wine, beer or cider, but spirits aren't permitted. Tea, coffee, juice and water are provided free, and the High Tea includes bubbles.
Can children join a class?
No. Hollybrook's art classes and accommodation are designed for adults only, so the classes suit hens groups, birthdays and friends' weekends rather than kids' parties.
What should we wear?
Aprons are supplied, but paint can still find its way onto clothing, so wear something you don't mind getting marked. For the vineyard session, bring a hat, sunscreen and sensible shoes.
