About Beyond Ballooning
Beyond Ballooning is a family-owned hot air balloon operator based in the Hunter Valley, with a flight crew who live locally. Mornings begin at Blaxland Inn on Broke Road in Pokolbin, where passengers can use the bathrooms and hear a safety briefing from their pilot before being driven to one of around 20 launch sites. The balloons are inflated with a fan and then the burners, and the basket lifts off as the sun comes up. Once airborne, expect somewhere between 40 minutes and an hour over vineyards and farmland, with the pilot talking through the landscape below. Balloons travel with the wind, so there is no breeze in the basket, and the burner keeps the chill off. After landing, anyone keen can help roll up the envelope. Breakfast tickets then return to a local restaurant for a glass of sparkling wine and a gourmet meal with the pilot and the rest of the passengers. The fleet covers balloons for 2, 8, 12, 20 and 24 passengers, so a hens weekend, birthday crew or work team can fly together. For something more private, exclusive flights take a group of four to eight friends in their own basket, and VIP flights are set aside for two, which suits a proposal or anniversary. Passengers need to be over seven, under 130kg each and able to stand for the whole flight. Large groups and weekend dates are worth booking about two weeks ahead.

How much does a balloon flight cost?
Adult flight-only tickets are $299 each, or $329 with breakfast after landing. Children aged 7 to 12 are $259, or $289 including breakfast.
Can our whole group fly in the same balloon?
The fleet includes balloons for 2, 8, 12, 20 and 24 passengers, and exclusive flights give a group of four to eight friends their own basket. Ask the team about larger groups.
Where do we meet and how early is it?
Every flight meets at Blaxland Inn, 2198 Broke Road, Pokolbin. Flights launch at sunrise, and a text the afternoon before confirms your meeting time and the weather call.
Are there age or fitness requirements?
Passengers must be over seven, weigh 130kg or less, be able to stand for the flight and climb in and out of the basket, and be free of major knee, back or neck problems.
What happens if the weather is bad?
The crew flies year-round but checks the forecast each afternoon, and a flight can be called off before launch if conditions aren't safe. Date changes are handled under the booking terms.
