About Equip Multimedia
Equip Multimedia is an audiovisual production company working from Cardiff, set up in 1985 by managing director Dr Trevor Mallard to give small organisations, churches and schools access to proper sound and lighting. Its work spans Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, including full production for Groovin the Moo at Maitland, the Hunter Rescue Ball, a Façon spring fashion runway held at the city museum, and community carols. Audio is built around d&b line array speaker systems with Midas and Allen & Heath mixing consoles, and larger jobs get CAD drawings and array calculations before the event. For vision, Blackmagic cameras send a live picture from stage to screen, and the company can bring as much as 12 metres of LED wall or 65-inch Sony televisions. Lighting includes moving-head profiles, washes and beams, plus fog and haze for atmosphere. Staging comes from MegaDeck platforms and Global Truss, configured to fit anything from a boardroom to a warehouse or an event out in the vineyards. Velveteen drapes in several colours dress the space, and an Electro Kabuki system can drop a curtain carrying up to 50 kilograms for a reveal. Show crews can talk on a Riedel Bolero wireless intercom. Event and operations manager Justin Mason works with clients from first concept through to the night itself. The technicians deliver, set up, programme and operate the equipment and pack it down afterwards, and all gear is tested and tagged to Australian standards.

Frequently asked questions
How much does Equip Multimedia charge?
Prices aren't published. Each event is quoted on the equipment and crew it needs, so contact the team with your date, venue, guest numbers and what you want to achieve.
Do you just drop off equipment, or run it too?
The technicians deliver the equipment, set it up, programme and operate it during the event and pack it down at the end, so you aren't left running the desk yourself.
Can you supply screens for a gala dinner or conference?
Yes. Options include live camera feeds to screen, LED walls as wide as 12 metres and 65-inch Sony televisions, scaled from a boardroom seminar to a large gala ball.
Do you work at Hunter Valley venues?
Yes. The company covers Newcastle and the Hunter Valley, has produced festivals at Maitland and mentions staging events among the vineyards.
Is the equipment safety tested?
Yes. All equipment is tested and tagged to Australian standards, and staging is built and dismantled by the crew in line with workplace safety requirements.
