About Ice Break Escape Room

Ice Break Escape Room occupies Level 10 of an office building on George Street, between Town Hall station and the QVB. Its four current rooms sit side by side on the one floor, so a larger group can be split into teams that start and finish together. The rooms cover a wide spread of tastes. Redemption is the horror option: players wake in a basement cell after a string of kidnappings, live actors raise the tension, and it takes three to ten players over 80 minutes. Eyes of Argos is an 80-minute detective operation with a score at the end, and most teams run out of time. Legacy is a gentle 60-minute story about siblings exploring their late father's cabin, suitable from age eight, while Darkness Reborn is a wizarding-school rescue that works well for beginners and teenagers. Each game is private to your group, and a game master follows along on camera and passes hints over a walkie-talkie. The Level 10 rooms hold up to 28 people at once, and bigger groups can be spread over two time slots. The venue has also run rooms on Level 8 of the same building, and its birthday bookings mention both floors. Birthdays are a big part of the business: cake is welcome, staff will keep it in the fridge, and they can hide a present inside the room for the birthday person to find. There is no catering and no food inside the rooms, but the CBD is full of places to eat.

Games are priced per group, including GST. Legacy and Eyes of Argos are $180 for three, $240 for four, $275 for five and $330 for six from Monday to Saturday, which is $55 per person for five or six. Darkness Reborn is $260 to $372, and Redemption is $304 to $670 for three to ten players. Sunday and public holiday sessions cost about 10% more. Corporate bookings need a $100 deposit per game.

Food

There is no catering and no food is allowed in the rooms, but birthday cakes are welcome and can be kept in the fridge. The surrounding CBD streets have plenty of restaurants.

Open seven days from 11am, finishing at 9:30pm Monday to Thursday and 10pm Friday to Sunday. Sunday and public holiday sessions book out first, so reserve ahead. Plan on about 90 minutes including the briefing and team photo.

How big a group can you take?

The Level 10 rooms can hold up to 28 players at once, split across the four games. Most rooms take three to six players, and Redemption takes up to ten. Larger groups can be spread over two time slots, and private hire is quoted on request.

Which room should first-timers choose?

Legacy and Darkness Reborn are the easiest starting points. Legacy suits ages eight and up with no scares, and Darkness Reborn is a playful wizarding adventure. Redemption is a horror room with live actors, and Eyes of Argos is the hardest of the four.

Can we celebrate a birthday there?

Yes. Bring a cake and the team will keep it in the fridge, and they can hide a gift in the room during your game. Food can't go into the rooms and there's no catering, but there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

How do we pay for a group booking?

Corporate and large group bookings need a $100 deposit per game, with the rest paid when the team arrives. Standard bookings are made online, and you can pay for extra players on the day as long as the room's limit isn't exceeded.
