Escape This runs its Sydney CBD centre at 630 George Street, less than a 10-minute walk from Town Hall station. Each room is a 60-minute game with a full theatrical set, sound effects and a story. Your team searches for clues, solves puzzles and cracks codes against the clock while a game master watches and sends hints when you get stuck. The Sydney CBD rooms include Pirates, The Wizard's Chamber, Cannibal, The Possession, Buried Alive, Asylum and Zombie Apocalypse. Difficulty runs from 6 out of 10 for Pirates to 8 out of 10 for Cannibal. Most rooms take two to eight players, though Asylum and Zombie Apocalypse cap at four. On Saturdays the minimum is four players. For events, a bigger group of up to 50 can be split across several rooms at once, so everyone plays at the same time and compares notes afterwards. Escape This markets the rooms for birthdays, hens and bucks nights, team building, corporate events and Christmas parties, and the rooms' puzzles push people to talk and share the load. Age limits depend on the room. Cannibal, Buried Alive and Asylum are strictly 18+, with ID checks, and The Possession and Zombie Apocalypse are 15+. Pirates is the pick for families: children from 7 can play as paying participants, though 9 and over is recommended, and kids 9 and under need a paying adult in the room. Panic buttons let players leave a room early, and some rooms use smoke effects, darkness or jump scares. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and parking options nearby for afterwards.
