About Heart Of The Mountain
Heart of the Mountain calls itself an adventure experience rather than an escape room, and the difference is in the pacing. There is no countdown. Teams play explorers hired by Hazel Ivy, whose grandmother, the conservationist Alice Ivy, disappeared in 1957 while digging for a mysterious energy source inside a mountain. The job is to retrace the expedition and find out what happened, moving through a run of connected spaces built to film-set standard, with dynamic lighting, smoke, simulated explosions and a custom soundtrack. The puzzles are physical as well as mental. Expect to crouch, climb stairs, go down slides, move and lift large objects and work with your hands, which is why enclosed shoes are essential and it isn't recommended for people with mobility limits, severe claustrophobia or epilepsy. It isn't a horror game, though the low light, tight spaces and loud effects make it thrilling. Most groups finish in 60 to 80 minutes, and teams that don't solve everything still reach an ending. Those who dig deeper uncover an extra layer of the story. A park ranger character can be called on for help. Sessions are private for teams of three to eight, and larger private bookings for birthdays, corporate teams and team building can be arranged by email. The game is aimed at players 16 and over, anyone younger must come with a paying adult, and it isn't recommended for children under eight. Photography isn't allowed inside, to keep the surprises intact.

How long does it take?
The adventure itself runs for about 70 minutes, and almost all teams finish between 60 and 80. There's no countdown clock. Allow another 15 to 20 minutes for check-in, the briefing and a debrief.
How many people can play, and can we book privately?
It's designed for teams of three to eight, and every session is private to your group. Groups can add players on the day up to eight. For birthdays, corporate events and team building with more people, email the team to arrange a private booking.
How physical is it?
Quite physical for an escape game. There are stairs, slides, tight spaces, uneven ground, and objects to move and lift, plus smoke and loud effects. Wear enclosed shoes. It isn't recommended for people with epilepsy, severe claustrophobia or mobility disabilities, so contact the team first if you're unsure.
What is the age limit?
It's designed for players aged 16 and over. Younger players must be accompanied by a paying adult, and children under eight aren't recommended because of the complexity and intensity.
How much does it cost and what is the cancellation policy?
Pricing depends on group size and is shown on the online booking page. Bookings can be moved with at least 48 hours' notice, subject to availability. Cancellations aren't refunded but may be credited towards a later booking.
