Bubbling With Energy runs one of Sydney's larger inflatable fleets from a factory in Ingleburn, in the city's south west, and takes round-the-clock online bookings through its sister site, Jumping Castles Online. The backyard jumping castle is the heart of it. A compact 2 in 1 castle with a bounce floor and a basketball hoop starts at $310 for a four-hour hire, midi castles for children up to about 10 start at $330, and the bigger 5 in 1 and C7 combos, with slides, climbing walls and pop-up obstacles inside a netted enclosure, run from roughly $430 to $550. Many of the plainer castles take a swappable theme banner at no extra charge, so the same unit can dress up as a dinosaur, construction or unicorn party. Tight yards are covered by a junior jumper needing only 3.7m by 3.2m, and there is a separate toddler range for children up to six. Past the castles, the range is built for summer days and larger crowds. There are jump and splash castles that finish in a small pool, wet and dry combos, dual-lane water slides up to 7m high, and inflatable obstacle courses where two people race side by side. For teenagers and adults there are soccer darts, billiard soccer, a human wrecking ball, gladiator duels and a mechanical surfboard, while the mechanical bull always arrives with a trained operator who adjusts the speed to each rider. Foam pits with foam cannons, an inflatable sideshow booth and carnival games, a mobile video gaming trailer that seats up to 20 players, and popcorn, fairy floss and sno cone machines round out a school fete or company family day. Face painters and costumed party hosts can also be added, though they are a small side of the business. Published prices assume a private backyard where you supervise the equipment yourself, and backyard customers are given a short safety video to watch before the day. Parks, schools and public events usually need one of the company's supervisors, and public-place, peak-season and delivery surcharges can be added depending on the suburb. Jumping castles are priced for a half day of about four hours or a full day of about seven hours. The 2 in 1 castles start at $310 half day and $350 full day, midi castles at $330 and $425, junior jumpers at $325, the larger 5 in 1 combos at $430, and C7, toddler and wet and dry combos at around $470 to $550. Jump and splash castles with a pool start at $525, and most castles can stay overnight for an extra $110. Water slides run from about $395 to $2,800 depending on size, the Euro Bouncer adult castle is from $780, and large obstacle courses such as the Adrenaline Rush II are from $1,435. Supervised items are priced for a two-hour backyard booking: the mechanical bull from $1,100 plus $150 for each additional hour, the mechanical surfboard from $950 and the large foam pit from $890. The gaming trailer with an attendant is $770 for two hours up to $1,150 for four. Party food machines start at $99 for a popcorn warmer, $135 for fairy floss and $180 for a sno cone machine, with $99 delivery on dry hire or free delivery alongside an inflatable. Equipment & Service Details

Every inflatable is delivered, set up, secured and later collected by the Bubbling With Energy crew, and it is inflated and ready before your booked start time; setup usually takes about 15 minutes once there is access and power. Castles go on grass, pavers, concrete, asphalt, dirt or carpet, pegged where possible and held down with weights where pegs cannot be used, and a gentle slope is fine. Each unit runs from a constant-air electric blower connected to a standard 240V 10 amp outlet within about 20m by a sealed heavy-duty lead that the crew supplies, with no more than two blowers on one circuit; water slides and jump and splash castles also need a garden tap within 20m, and some larger slides and obstacle courses need two power points and direct vehicle access. Most units need a clear access path of 85cm to 1m, the smallest castles 60cm, and steps must be flagged when booking because extra crew may be charged or delivery refused. Castles must be kept clear of walls, trees and fences, and summer backyard hires can run until dusk while winter hires should end within an hour of sunset. In a private backyard you supervise the equipment yourself and are sent a safety video to watch beforehand; hires outside a backyard usually need one of their supervisors at an extra cost. The mechanical bull, gladiator duels and gaming trailer are only ever hired with an operator, and adults using the bull, surfboard, foam pit or obstacle courses receive ride-at-your-own-risk wristbands and sign a waiver. The company holds $20 million public liability cover. A deposit by bank transfer or card secures the booking, with the balance paid before the day or in cash to the driver, who cannot take cards. What happens if it rains, and is there anything we should avoid?

Unless you contact them first, the crew delivers in any weather, so call the office if you want to talk about moving the date. Cancellation fees vary by product. Keep streamers, party poppers and silly string well away from the castle, as they damage the vinyl and any such damage is charged at $750, and make sure face paint is completely dry before anyone jumps, because wet paint stains the inflatable.
