About Be Challenged Team Building

Be Challenged is a team building and team development company based in Chatswood. It began in 2008, was bought in 2011 by current directors Oliver Sheer and Kingsley Seale, and also has offices in Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Perth. It belongs to an international network of partner companies, and says it has delivered around 6,000 programs for about 2,000 clients. It has no venue of its own. The team comes to your office, hotel or conference centre, or helps you pick a venue that fits your numbers, transport needs and goals. The catalogue holds more than 100 programs in three broad groups. Fun and team building programs run from about an hour to a full day and include Go Team, a phone-guided exploration of the local area, the outdoor Flat Out F1, the app-based Quickfire Survivor, Beat the Box, Cluedo AI, Hit Factory, where teams use AI to write a song, and The Rhythm of Leadership, a drumming session. Conference and offsite activities can be matched to the event's theme, and charity programs let teams give something back to the community. Learning and development workshops cover leadership, communication and behaviour profiling. In Sydney it also runs Sydney Safari, a tech-driven treasure hunt at Taronga Zoo. Programs suit groups from 4 to 2,000 people. Most take 1.5 to 2 hours, though they range from a 20-minute energiser to a two-day workshop. Book at least two to three weeks ahead. Facilitators are first-aid trained, and there is a set wet-weather policy. It suits HR and people teams, conference organisers and schools who want an activity with a clear purpose, run from start to finish by someone else.

Pricing

Programs generally start from $2,500 plus GST. Each quote rolls a setup charge and a charge per participant into a single figure, and all prices exclude GST. You can pay a 40% non-refundable deposit to secure your booking, then settle the rest when it is invoiced a fortnight out, or pay the full invoice within 7 days. One free date change is allowed if requested more than 30 days out, and later changes cost $250.

How We Work

Every booking begins with a discovery conversation about your team, your goals and where things need to improve. Be Challenged then recommends a mix of programs and can help choose a venue to suit your numbers, transport and purpose, before sending a proposal with a single all-in price. You organise directions, tell your staff what to wear and bring, and set up teams, although they can help form teams and will tell you what size each should be. Some programs need a projector, speakers and a microphone. First-aid-trained facilitators run the program on the day. If the program falls short of the agreed objectives for reasons within their control, feedback lodged within 7 days can lead to a full or partial refund or a credit.

Do they have a venue, or do they come to us?

They come to you. Programs run at your office, hotel, conference centre or an outdoor location, and the team can recommend Sydney venues it works with regularly, including Taronga Zoo, Q Station, Pier One, Elysium Manly and Novotel Darling Harbour.

How many people can take part and how long does it take?

Anywhere from 4 to 2,000 participants. Most programs run for 1.5 to 2 hours, but options range from a 20-minute conference energiser to a two-day strategy workshop.

How far ahead do we need to book?

At least two to three weeks is usually needed, depending on group size, the program and the location. Final participant numbers must be confirmed 14 days before the event.

What happens if it rains?

The forecast is watched in the lead-up. With light rain the program goes ahead with ponchos supplied, heavier rain means switching to an indoor activity, and heavy rain or heat over 35 degrees requires an indoor program. In extreme conditions the event may be postponed.
