About Bubbleheads

Bubbleheads is a Sydney bubble entertainment act built around Bubble Girl, a costumed performer who fills a party with soap bubbles from start to finish. It is interactive rather than a sit-and-watch show: children chase, pop, blow and stand inside bubbles while the performer works the group. The act adapts to a wide age range at once, and the festive atmosphere carries to the adults watching. A booking includes the performer in costume, professional bubble equipment, a sound system with a soundtrack chosen to suit the crowd, and a bright bubble stage set with a backdrop and floordrop where one is needed. Activities are chosen on the day to suit ages, numbers and the weather. They can include countless big and small bubbles, mega bubble clouds, bubbles inside bubbles, bubble afros, beards and koala ears, heads in bubbles, smoke bubble caterpillars, foam hats and boots, dodge bubble and other bubble games. Standing a child inside a bubble is possible when there is next to no breeze. There is no cap on guest numbers, as the activities change to suit the crowd. Pricing is set by distance from Coogee in Sydney's east: $395 for 0 to 10km, $415 for 11 to 15km, $435 for 16 to 20km, $455 for 21 to 25km, $485 for 26 to 30km, $505 for 31 to 35km and $525 for 36 to 40km, plus parking fees if any are incurred. There is no extra charge for extra guests. Full payment holds the booking, and it is non-refundable inside two months of the booked date, with a separate arrangement if a direct relative catches covid and it is advised in writing.

The act runs for one hour at a birthday party and up to eight hours at a festival, with start times of 10.30am, 1.30pm and 4.30pm for most of the year and 10am, 1pm and 4pm in June, July and August. Bubbleheads arrives with the performer in costume, professional bubble gear, a sound system and soundtrack, and a bubble backdrop and floordrop where needed, and no power or water connection is required. Backyards and front yards, parks, preschools and daycare centres, function centres, bowling, rugby and surf clubs, and garages or carports all work. The ground must be safe once bubbles land on it: grass, wall to wall fake grass or carpet, unpolished porous surfaces such as brick pavers, asphalt and rubble are fine. Polished or painted floors, non-porous surfaces, pebblecrete, lino, rubber and plastic are not. Somewhere sheltered from wind allows the widest range of games.

Do you need power or water, and what do I need to supply?

No power or water is needed. You supply a couple of colourful kids' towels, and shelter if it rains, which can be as simple as a marquee, a carport or tarps strung between trees. Bubbles work well at night too, and look striking against a dark sky with some ambient light.
