About UWA Tavern
The UWA Tavern, known to most as the Tav, has been part of life at the University of Western Australia since the mid-seventies. It sits on the Crawley campus close to Matilda Bay, with views over the Swan River. The building mixes heritage character with practical function spaces. There is a main room, a mezzanine level above it and an outdoor courtyard facing the river, and the venue can be hired whole or in parts. For cocktail-style events, the inside and mezzanine take up to 250 guests and the courtyard another 250, with up to 500 across the whole tavern. Seated, the indoor space takes 80, the courtyard 100 and the full venue 180. The venue supplies tables, chairs, cocktail tables and couches, plus a stage, lighting, PA, DJ decks, microphones, a projector and screens. A dedicated coordinator looks after the event from the first enquiry through to the day itself. Food and drink are handled through the tavern's own menus and packages, including a banquet menu for end-of-year functions. Weddings and engagements carry a minimum spend of $8,500 from Monday to Saturday with at least 30 guests, and you can send an enquiry to start planning.
