About The Waterfront Tavern
The Waterfront Tavern sits on Southside Drive at Hillarys Boat Harbour, a short stroll from the beach. It is a relaxed coastal pub that runs lunch and dinner through the week and keeps an events manager for functions. Top of the list is the R.Scotts Function Room, a dim, neon-lit room styled like a late-night jazz club. It holds up to 150 standing, is closed to other guests, and comes with its own bar, a TV and a microphone. Bookings run for four hours unless agreed otherwise, with two hours to set up beforehand. The Marina Lounge is a bright indoor area sectioned off for privacy, seating up to 70. Outside, The Terrace takes up to 60 standing in the sea breeze, while The Nook is a sheltered corner seating 30 for smaller groups ordering from the main menu. For food, seated groups can take a two- or three-course set menu, served alternate drop for groups of 20 or more. Cocktail functions order canapé bowls of ten pieces, with choices such as brisket croquettes, fish tacos, mini cheeseburgers and pizza slabs, and dietary needs are marked on every item. Drinks can be prepaid as a basic or premium package over three or four hours, run as a bar tab with a limit you set, or left to guests to buy at the bar. A spirit upgrade can be added to any package. Hired DJs are welcome if management approves them first, and you get access to the room two hours ahead to decorate. Under-18s can attend with a guardian and wear a wristband for the night.

Set menus are $65 per person for two courses and $79 per person for three. Drinks packages start from $95 per person, a spirit upgrade adds $20 per person, and under-18 soft drink packages are $30 for three hours or $40 for four. Public holiday bookings carry a 15% surcharge on food and drinks.

Cocktail functions order canapé bowls of ten pieces (minimum twenty pieces), such as halloumi skewers, kingfish tostadas, brisket croquettes, fish tacos, chicken tenders and mini fish and chips, plus 16-piece pizza slabs and sticky toffee pudding bites. Dietary needs are catered for and every item is labelled.

Alternatively, run a bar tab with a limit you can adjust on the night, or let guests buy their own drinks at the bar. No outside drinks are permitted.

What are the minimum spends and hire fees?
R.Scotts has a $4,000 minimum spend and a $500 room hire fee. The Marina Lounge has a $2,000 minimum spend and a $300 hire fee, while The Nook has no minimum spend. The hire fee is paid up front as the deposit that confirms the booking, and it is not redeemable against food or drinks.
Can we bring our own cake?
Yes. A $30 cakeage fee covers storage, service and cutlery, and the venue can hold the cake before your function. No other outside food or drink is allowed.
Can we book a DJ?
Yes, as long as management approves the entertainment in advance. DJs bring and set up their own gear and keep the volume at a reasonable level before 9pm.
Are under-18s allowed at functions?
Yes. Under-age guests can attend with a legal guardian at all times, must wear the wristband security gives them and cannot approach the bar. A soft drink and juice package is available for them.
