About Sail and Anchor
The Sail and Anchor is a heritage-listed hotel on South Terrace in the middle of Fremantle, opposite the Fremantle Markets and beside the buskers on Henderson Mall. Inside you'll find a spiral staircase, timber-panelled walls and a pressed tin ceiling. The pub is known for its beer, with around 40 taps, hand pumps and four bars across the building. Functions can use one of four areas, and none of them carries a hire fee because they are not fully closed off from the rest of the venue. The first-floor Freemasons Room takes 70 to 100 guests for a cocktail party. It has an open layout, lounge seating and two pool tables on wheels that can be moved to change the layout, plus a door straight onto the Market Side Balcony. Room 1854 is the more private option upstairs, with its own bar and its own stretch of the South Terrace Balcony, and suits 40 to 60 guests. The South Terrace Balcony and the Market Side Bar each take 20 to 40, the latter being a section of the main bar looking across to the markets. Food comes as hot and cold platters, each feeding about ten people as a snack, or as a charcuterie grazing table in three sizes. Drinks can run on a bar tab you control or on a two-hour package. The venue hosts birthdays, engagements, anniversaries and work functions. Food is paid in advance and the menu is locked in a week before the date, so send an enquiry to book.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a room hire fee at the Sail and Anchor?
No. The function areas are not completely exclusive, so the pub doesn't charge a hire fee. You pay for the food you order and for drinks, either on a bar tab or a package.
Which function area holds the most people?
The first-floor Freemasons Room takes 70 to 100 guests cocktail style. Room 1854 suits 40 to 60, and the South Terrace Balcony and Market Side Bar each take 20 to 40.
What drinks packages are available?
There are two packages that run for two hours. The $60 per person option covers house wine, tap beer, cider and soft drinks, while the $90 per person option adds every wine by the glass, two select cocktails and first-pour spirits.
Can we bring a birthday cake or decorations?
Yes, you can bring your own cake and staff will bring it out when you're ready. Decorations are welcome, but table scatters, confetti and anything stuck to the walls with blu tack are not, and the team can organise balloons for you.
Are under 18s allowed at functions?
Guests under 18 can attend as long as a parent or guardian stays with them for the whole event. Capacity limits still apply to each area.
