About Obsession

Obsession is a 50-foot luxury catamaran, recently refitted, that takes up to 37 guests on Sydney Harbour. Her wide twin hulls give a stable, comfortable ride, and the layout pairs a bright saloon seating 12 with a generous open deck and two front trampolines for lying in the sun. The galley is fully equipped with an electric fridge and freezer, there's a BBQ, and the sound system plays from your phone or other devices. When you stop for a swim, a ladder gets you in the water, the lily pad is free, and stand-up paddleboards can be hired. Obsession is one of the few catamarans with beverage packages, so you can choose gold or platinum drinks or bring your own. Food works the same way, from BBQ menus cooked on board to your own spread.

Pricing

Every charter is at least 4 hours. From May to October, Obsession is $600 per hour any day of the week. From November to April, excluding December, she's $600 per hour Monday to Thursday and $650 per hour Friday to Sunday. December is $700 per hour. Christmas Day is $5,000, New Year's Eve is price on application, and other public holidays carry a 20% surcharge.

Extras include wharf fees of $50 per stop, Manly pick-up or drop-off at $200 each way, a $100 surcharge for Middle Harbour stops, a $150 BYO amenity fee, BBQ hire with crew to cook at $100, ice at $8 per bag, pre-loading at $150, drinks collection at $100 and stand-up paddleboards at $50. The lily pad is free. A $1,200 deposit secures the booking, the balance is due 14 days before, and a $500 bond is returned after the cruise.

Food

Three BBQ packages are available, with a $30 catering delivery fee. The Simple Snag is $24 per person: minute steak with garlic herb butter, sausages, glazed onions, bread rolls and pasta salad. The Classic Aussie is $35 per person, with Angus beef burgers (chicken or vegetarian available), sausages, brioche buns and potato salad. The Gourmet Sizzle is $49 per person: sirloin steak, gourmet sausages, chicken and lamb kebabs, Moroccan couscous salad, Greek salad and bread rolls. A large grazing board ($249) and a large fruit platter ($199) can be added.

BYO food is welcome. If you bring your own, BBQ hire with a crew member at the grill is $100, and the $150 BYO amenity fee takes care of plates, cutlery, napkins, cooking utensils, the crew doing the cooking and the clean-up.

Beverages

The Gold Beverage Package is $15 per person, per hour, with Australian sparkling, rosé, sauvignon blanc and shiraz, Corona and Becks, soft drinks, juice and still and sparkling water. The Platinum Beverage Package is $25 per person, per hour, and steps up to Italian prosecco, French rosé, Hunter Valley chardonnay, Margaret River shiraz, Corona and 4 Pines Pale Ale. House spirits can be added for $5 per person, per hour, or premium spirits (Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Glenfiddich and more) for $10.

BYO drinks are welcome, with cups provided and use of the fridge and esky, under the $150 BYO amenity fee. Ice is listed as $8 a bag, so check whether it's supplied when you book.

Wharfs & Availability

Obsession's availability is shown on a live calendar, so check your date when you enquire. All charters run for a minimum of 4 hours.

Are there any restrictions on bookings?

Obsession doesn't take bucks parties or all-male groups, and 18th to 21st birthday parties aren't accepted. Only white-soled sneakers or soft-soled shoes are allowed on board, and no heels.
