About Upbeat Social
Upbeat Social is a Sydney entertainment collective working out of York Street in the CBD, made up of DJs, live musicians, photographers and videographers. The team has been running event entertainment for more than 10 years across weddings, corporate functions and private parties, and all of its DJs have at least five years behind the decks. Before the event the team goes through your music with you, including must-play and do-not-play lists, and on the night the DJ takes guest requests unless you'd rather stick to a set playlist. A few of the DJs can also MC. The DJ package starts from $1,650 for five hours with two premium PA speakers, a wireless microphone and a DJ with around seven years' experience. From $2,550 you can add two hours of a solo musician or saxophonist, or a photo booth with unlimited prints for the length of the event. Solo live music starts from $1,899 for four hours, and The Works, from $5,900, covers up to eight hours with a DJ for the whole event and a choice of three musicians. The musician roster runs past 50 names: vocalists with guitar or piano, violinists, duos, string quartets, electric strings and a full band, plus DJ combos with sax, violin or trumpet. The standard sound and lighting setup covers events of up to 150 people, and larger rooms can be quoted with extra speakers, moving-head lights and AV technicians. Setup takes 45 minutes to an hour, and the team arrives early so it's done before guests turn up. If a performer falls ill, Upbeat Social supplies a replacement of the same standard. The team suggests booking four to six weeks ahead, longer in wedding season, and can travel beyond Sydney.

Can we add live music to a DJ booking?
Yes. The DJ and live music package starts from $2,550 and adds two hours of a solo musician or saxophonist to a five-hour DJ set, with the option to upgrade to a duo or trio. DJ combos with sax, violin or trumpet are also available.
How far ahead should we book?
Upbeat Social recommends at least four to six weeks' notice, and more for wedding season and the holiday period, although last-minute bookings can sometimes be fitted in.
How big an event does the standard setup suit?
The standard sound and lighting covers events of up to 150 guests. For bigger rooms the team can add speakers, moving-head lighting, chandeliers and AV technicians.
How long does setup take?
Allow 45 minutes to an hour. The team arrives early so everything is ready before the event starts, and setup, performance time and equipment are included in the quoted price.
